The Elqui Valley
In the outback the famous and sunny Elqui Valley will fascinate you: a green oasis in between overwhelming hills, which are the beginning of the Andes mountain range.
You can find here an amazing versatile vegetation: cactus, palm trees, chirimoyas, avocados, papayas and of course the moscatel-grapes for the production of the famous Pisco. The very tasty Chilean national drink is called „Pisco Sour“!
This wonderful green spot is also known as the birthplace of the Chilean poetess Gabriela Mistral. In Montegrande you can visit her tomb and the museum of the literature Nobel prize winner.
Enjoy the pintoresque village Pisco Elqui with its relaxed atmosphere, its handcraft shops, colourful painted houses, rustic little restaurants, cafés and bars. You can visit the pisco breweries: „Mistral“ (at the „plaza”) or the oldest and traditional one “Los Nichos” (4 km on the way to Horcón).
The Elqui Valley is known to be the "mystical" valley of Chile - the preferred landing area for UFOs and where you can feel these very special energies. And it offers more than 300 sunny days a year!
